No Escape Route for DIG Lagat in Albert Omondi's Murder Case as 20 Petitioners Make This Move

No Escape Route for DIG Lagat in Albert Omondi's Murder Case as 20 Petitioners Make This Move

Despite the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approving murder charges against five suspects in the killing of Albert Omondi, new developments suggest that Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Lagat may not evade legal accountability.

According to a report in Friday's People Daily, a group of 20 petitioners has filed a case in court, accusing both the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the DPP of deliberately shielding DIG Lagat from prosecution.

The petitioners argue that the decision to charge OCS Talaam and four others is an intentional diversion meant to obscure DIG Lagat’s alleged role in the case. They insist that Lagat is the main suspect in Omondi’s death and should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

This legal action comes just days after Lagat stepped down from his position, further intensifying calls for his arrest.

The case continues to unfold, with the public and petitioners closely watching the next steps in the legal process.
