Who is Wanjiku Muhia: MP of Kipipiri Family Life and Political Life

Wanjiku Muhia, the current Member of Parliament for Kipipiri Constituency, is more than just a politician—she is a mother, a wife, and a grounded leader whose values stem deeply from her family life.

A Rooted Family Woman

Though she keeps her private life modest and away from media attention, Wanjiku often credits her strong moral compass and leadership style to the values instilled in her by her parents. As a devoted mother and wife, she juggles the responsibilities of family with her demanding role in national politics. Her lived experiences as a parent influence much of her work in Parliament, especially her advocacy for education, children with disabilities, maternal health, and youth empowerment.

From Grassroots to Parliament

Wanjiku’s political journey began with community engagement and a passion for empowering women. In 2013, she was elected as the Woman Representative for Nyandarua County. In that role, she focused on uplifting women economically and addressing grassroots challenges.

Her work gained national recognition, and in 2017, she was nominated to serve in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), representing Kenya at the regional level. She worked on integration policies and spoke out on issues affecting the everyday East African citizen.

In 2022, Wanjiku returned to local politics with a bold campaign for Kipipiri MP—and won. Running under the UDA party, she defeated longtime legislator Amos Kimunya, becoming one of the few women in central Kenya to hold such a seat.

Wanjiku Muhia’s story is a reminder that leadership doesn’t have to come at the expense of family—it can be shaped by it. As Kipipiri’s MP, she continues to serve with humility, always guided by the values she carries from home.
