Kenya Makes History: Harambee Stars Reach CHAN 2024 Quarterfinals on Debut

Kenya’s fairy-tale run at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 continues, with the Harambee Stars booking a place in the quarterfinals — a first in the nation’s football history. Remarkably, they’ve achieved this feat in their maiden appearance at the tournament, and with a game to spare.

The Stars announced their arrival in Group B with a narrow but crucial 1-0 win over DR Congo, followed by a gritty 1-1 draw against Angola. In their third outing, they delivered the biggest statement yet, edging past Morocco 1-0 to move top of the standings with seven points.

Elsewhere, Morocco’s win over Zambia and DR Congo’s victory against Angola confirmed Kenya’s progression. With head-to-head wins over both Morocco and DR Congo, the tie-breaker rules leave the Harambee Stars safe, no matter what happens in the final group fixtures.

This milestone marks the first time Kenya has advanced to the knockout stage of CHAN. It’s not just history being written — it’s a new chapter for Kenyan football.

All eyes now turn to the last group match against Zambia on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The Stars will be looking to seal top spot and extend their unbeaten run as they prepare for the quarterfinal showdown.
