Uganda Crush Guinea 3–0 in Kampala Showdown
Uganda lit up the African Nations Championship Group C stage with a commanding 3–0 victory over Guinea on August 8, 2025. From the first whistle, the Cranes played with hunger, precision, and a clear game plan that left their opponents chasing shadows.
The breakthrough came in the 31st minute, when Reagan Mpande rose highest to meet a pinpoint Joel Sserunjogi corner, steering a powerful header into the net. Guinea tried to regroup, but their defensive gaps widened after halftime.
In the 62nd minute, VAR intervened to award Uganda a penalty after a clumsy challenge in the box. Allan Okello made no mistake, smashing the spot-kick into the top right corner to double the lead.
With the game already leaning heavily in Uganda’s favour, substitute Ivan Ahimbisibwe put the final stamp on the result in the 89th minute, reacting quickest to a flick from Karim Watambala’s corner to tap home.
Guinea, despite flashes of pace and intent, failed to breach Uganda’s disciplined back line. The win not only boosts Uganda’s qualification hopes but also sends a strong warning to other Group C contenders.
