Yanga Spokesperson Ally Kamwe Reacts After Kenyans Sweep Tickets to Cripple Tanzania’s Home Support
The football rivalry between Kenya and Tanzania has taken yet another dramatic twist—this time off the pitch. Yanga SC spokesperson Ally Kamwe has broken his silence after Kenyan fans reportedly bought up a huge chunk of tickets meant for Tanzanian supporters, in a clever attempt to cripple home support during the Taifa Stars’ crucial clash against Morocco.
Speaking to the media, Kamwe expressed his frustration at what he termed as a “deliberate sabotage strategy” by Kenyan supporters. According to him, football should be about fair play both on and off the pitch, not underhand tactics that deny local fans the chance to back their national team.
“It’s unfortunate that our fans, who had waited eagerly to cheer Taifa Stars, could not access tickets because Kenyans had swept them off. Football rivalry is healthy, but this kind of sabotage goes against the spirit of African brotherhood,” Kamwe lamented.
The move sparked heated debate online, with many Kenyans celebrating it as a “masterstroke” while Tanzanians voiced their anger, saying their own backyard had been hijacked. Social media has since been flooded with memes, banter, and fiery exchanges between the two sides, adding fuel to the already intense Kenya–Tanzania football rivalry.
For Morocco, however, the drama was an unexpected bonus. Playing against Tanzania without the intimidating roar of home fans gave the North Africans a psychological edge—a fact not lost on football analysts.
Whether seen as genius or mischief, one thing is certain: Kenyans have once again shown their knack for unpredictability. What remains to be seen is whether Tanzanians will forgive—or plot their own payback when the two nations next clash
