Faith Kipyegon Clinches Gold at World Athletics Championships in Tokyo



Faith Kipyegon once again etched her name in history after storming to victory in the 1500m final at the World Athletics Championships on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The Kenyan star dominated the race in Tokyo, clocking 3:52.15 to secure the win and extend her legacy as the most decorated Kenyan at the championships, with a record haul of five gold and two silver medals.

Kenya celebrated even more success in the same race as Dorcus Ewoi clinched silver, finishing close behind Kipyegon in 3:54.92. Nelly Chepchirchir, the other Kenyan finalist, narrowly missed out on the podium after placing fourth. Bronze went to Australia’s Jessica Hull.

Kipyegon took command of the race early, with Chepchirchir and Ewoi trailing strategically behind. By the final lap, the 31-year-old had opened up a decisive gap, leaving her rivals battling for second place as she powered home to another memorable triumph
